On an active blog site used in a course, the archives pages can get a little unwieldy. To help manage that, I just added a new plugin called “Auto Excerpt” – if you enable it on your blog site, it will display only excerpts for posts on the archive pages, rather than the entire post (which can make for a verrrrry long page of scrolling).
To activate it, head to your blog site’s Dashboard, and into the Plugins section. Enable “Auto Excerpt” and, if you like, customize the settings for it in the Settings section of your Dashboard. You can customize the number of characters to display as an excerpt, as well as the text to use in the “read more” link.
