Update to WordPress, and Prologue theme

by D'Arcy Norman on September 30, 2008

I just updated UCalgaryBlogs to the latest and greatest version of WordPress (actually, I did it early this morning, before y’all started hammering on it). There shouldn’t be any visible changes – it’s all under the hood stuff. If anyone finds anything acting up, please let me know (the best way is to file a Support Ticket using the Support link in your blog’s Administration interface). But it’s shiny. Shiny is good, right? Yeah. Shiny…

The other update to UCalgaryBlogs is the addition of a bug-fixed Prologue theme. What’s that, you say? If you’ve heard of Twitter – the microblogging “what are you doing right now” social networking website, but haven’t wanted to broadcast to the whole world that you’re eating toast, or watching Heroes, or whatnot… Or, actually, a more useful example might be if you have a group of people. Students, let’s say. Who are working together and may need to keep up on each other’s status. You know, like in a group project?

Start a new blog site here, select Prologue as the theme, and all members of a group can keep up on what each other are doing (or NOT doing – I’m not pointing fingers. you know who you are *shakesfist*) If you want the group status blog to be private, that’s cool. Or, you can leave it open so people can follow along (and even subscribe to the RSS feed to keep up automagically). And you can comment on each others’ status updates, for feedback and nagging purposes. Not that anyone would have to nag their teammates on a group project…

Ferinstance, here’s a test Prologue blog I’ve been using to test it out.
